My friends and I used to ride our bikes out to Jones beach and do tricks on the boardwalk and people would toss us money!
LOL....I was about 15. It took us about an hour and a half to ride there on bikes.
From age 16-19 I was a fully sponsored freestyle bike rider. Salaried and everything.....:-)

Ha! Thats funny! Here is some info about things I remember from Long Island. I went to Seaford High School, I used to love this place called All American "they had hot dogs/hamburgers, I used to go to Sunrise mall and a there was this cheap mall called busy bee, haha that place was funny. Let me know if any of this is familiar to you!
I also used to Skateboard when I was younger and BMX. I used to have a Simms skatboard "think thats it?" and I had a Mongoose California that I used to do tricks with, nowadays Ill be lucky if I could stand on a skateboard hehe http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am from Calfornia, MD - yeah..I know...weird huh?, and get this...California is next door to Hollywood, MD which is my current residence as of this weekend!!
All of this stick-town USA is about 1 hour southeast of D.C. and about 1.5 hours south of Baltimore.
One of these days I am gonna get up to one of these PA meets and hang out with you guys. And Jim, I am 30 too...I feel old..glad there is another grandpa hanging out in the Honda Enthusiast world http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif (I am not a grandpa yet -lol!...my daughter is only 10)

Yeah I remember Sims skateboards! LOL. I always had Vision boards back then. Also, I used to ride all Haro's but I got sponsored by schwinn when I was 16 and I was given free bikes every month from then until I was 18. I used to go to every contest and they would fly me along with the rest of the team.(3 other guys) and I would usually place in the top three in my class (16-18) expert class. It was the class before pro...However I was on a slary from schwinn so I was professional, but because of my age I couldnt ride in the pro class. It was cool....two summers in a row we toured the WHOLE country....and I taught freestyle at the WOODWaRD camp in PA...another summer for schwinn. It was a fun time in my life...
Every once in a while I ride my bike...but it's not fun anymore...BUT....I do skate pretty actively...my students love the fact that I am a really good skater...LOL...I go to a local skatepark and most people say I should be sponsored....I always tell them....I have no time to be sponsored....too many papers to grade...LOL...
But lately it has been mostly surfing, but since the sharks are going crazy down here I am going to stay out of the water for a bit....
